A
literary walk looking for the typical living space of St. Petersburg is
the basis of the design conception.
The chosen place is in the city centre of St. Petersburg.
The
further consideration is backed up by the magnificence of the light
during the "dark days" in winter.
Two solid structures confronting each other like light and shadow.
Public
utilizations are based in the ground-floor of the solid that is facing
the light. Above that arises a type of housing with strong resemblance to
the russian "Kommunalka".
Small, separated living units with sanitary cells give a feeling of indivi-
duality. For cooking or other group-activities are community rooms avail-
able that even in winter are situated in light.
These very dense structures are opposing the individualized flats in the
other solid.
